6th Grade Girls Finish 2nd Place at Norfolk Catholic

The Wayne 6th grade girls team finished in 2nd place this past weekend in the Norfolk Catholic Tournament.  In the first game, Wayne defeated Elkhorn Valley 24-10.  Wayne raced out to an 18-2 lead fueled by an aggressive full-court defense.  In the second game of the tournament, Wayne beat North Bend 22-15.  Wayne’s solid half court defense and composure against their full court press lead to many transition baskets.  Wayne was overmatched and lost to an impressive Norfolk Catholic team, 46-9 in the tournament’s championship game. Second Trip to Wayne a Success for Breakthrough Basketball

Who said there was an Off-Season…?

On July 18 through July 20 Breakthrough Basketball ran a 3-day Shooting and Ball Handling Camp at the Wayne Community Activity Center hosted by the WBDA.  70 players ranging from 5th through 12th grades attended the camp.  Elite Skills Coach Italo Araujo instructed the camp which focused on shooting, developing a quick release and shooting off the catch.  On the ball handling side, campers worked on beating defenders off the dribble and finishing moves.  The camp was a great success and players left with confidence and mental toughness while learning to work hard and work smart.
