5th Grade Boys Finish 1st Place at David City

Saturday, January 26th, the 5th grade boys WBDA team played in the Monarch Classic in David City, NE.  The boys played great beating Columbus Scotus 28-6 and David City Aquinas 28-16 earning them 1st place in the tourney.  Congrats Players and Coaches!   #wayneyouthbasketball

8th Grade Girls Finish 2nd in Sioux Falls

Saturday, March 2nd, the 8th Grade Girls competed in the Battle on the Boards tournament in Harrisburg, SD.  They played 4 games, beating Iowa Fusion 39-13, losing to BBA Fierce 24-33, beating Kinglsey-Pierson 34-12, then losing to Avera Select 20-38.  The team’s aggressive but under control play helped them go 2-2 for the tournament and finish with 2nd place.  Congrats players and coaches.  #wayneyouthbasketball

8th Grade Boys – White Finish 1st Place in Wayne

Sunday, February 17, the 8th Grade Boys – White team played in the Clash of the Plain tournament in Wayne, NE.  They played in a 4-team round-robin tournament with Pierce, Wakefield and Clarkson-Leigh.  The boys dominated their division finishing with 3 wins and 0 losses earning 1st place in the tournament.  Congrats players and coaches!  #wayneyouthbasketball

5th Grade Girls Finish 2nd at Stanton

Saturday, January 12, the 5th grade girls WBDA team played in the Mustang Basketball Tournament in Stanton, NE. The girls played Battle Creek, Norfolk Catholic and Wisner.  The team went 2-1 for the day with wins versus Norfolk Catholic and Wisner earning them 2nd place in the tournament.  Congrats players and coaches!  #wayneyouthbasketball

4th Grade Girls Finish 2nd Place at Crofton

Saturday, January 19, the 4th Grade WBDA girls competed in the Crofton Booster Club Tournament in Crofton, NE. The team played in a 4-team round robin division.  Wayne played three hard fought games and finished the tournament with 2 wins and 1 loss earning them 2nd place in the tournament.  Congratulation players and coaches! #wayneyouthbasketball

4th Grade Boys Wayne White Finish with 1st Place at Stanton

Sunday, January 13, the 4th Grade Boys Wayne White Team competed in the Mustang Basketball Tournament in Stanton, NE. The team played in a 4-team round robin division.  In the 3 games the team played, they came away with 3 wins and 0 losses earning them 1st place in the tournament.  Congratulation players and coaches! #wayneyouthbasketball

5th Grade Girls Finish 2nd at Arlington Tournament

Saturday, February 2nd, the 5th Grade WBDA Girls Team played in the Arlington Invitational Tournament in Arlington, NE.  The team played in 3 games, beating G.A.C.C 24-22 in overtime in their first game, the losing to Millard 18-26 in their second game.  For their final game, the girls beat Arlington 28-19 . With the 2 wins and 1 loss in the tournament, the team finished in 2nd place.   Congrats players and coaches!  #wayneyouthbasketball

Wayne 6th Grade finish with 1st Place in Crofton

 

Saturday, January 19, the 6th Grade WBDA boys competed in the Crofton Booster Club Tournament in Crofton, NE. The team played in a 3-team round robin division, which included Wayne, Norfolk and Yankton.  Wayne’s first game was against Norfolk where Wayne led throughout.   Next Wayne faced a tough Yankton team.  The second game was close scoring through two-thirds of the game with Wayne pulling out the win in the end with tough defense.  For the final game of the tournament, Wayne faced Yankton for a second time.  In the final game, Wayne led for most of the game coming away with a strong win earning them 1st place in the tournament.  Congratulation players and coaches! #wayneyouthbasketball

6th Boys Team Take 1st Place in Bennington

 

Saturday, January 12 and Sunday January 13, the 6th Grade WBDA boys competed in the Bennington Badgers Shootout in Bennington, NE. The team played in a 4-team round robin division, which included Wayne, Wildcats, Bennington and Norris. Wayne’s first games on Saturday was against Norris, where Wayne started slow but finished the game with a strong 36-17 win.  For the second game of the tournament, Wayne faced Bennington.  Wayne keep the lead throughout the game with strong defense winning 39-24.  For the final game of the tournament on Sunday, Wayne faced the Wildcats.  The game was close through the first part of the game but Wayne pulled away in the end winning 38-24 earning 1st place in the tournament. See You at the Movies!

 

The WBDA will be sponsoring the movie Glory Road at the Majestic Theater in Wayne on Saturday, November 17th at 3:00 pm.

 

The movie is FREE to the public and all that come can enter our drawing to win multiple WBDA apparel items.  We will also be holding 1 of 3 player registrations for the upcoming season prior to the movie and after.  Click Here for other registration dates.

In 1965, the coach of the high school girl basketball team Don Haskins is invited by the Texas Western Miners to be their coach. Despite the lack of budget, Haskins sees the chance to dispute the NCAA and moves with his wife and children to the college dormitory. He recruits seven talented and rejected black players to play with five Caucasian players and formed a legendary team that won the 1966 national championship against the powerful Kentucky.
