The 7th Grade Girls WBDA basketball team competed at the MIT Tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 9th and 10th.

Wayne competed in a six-team bracket along with Elkhorn Elite, Falls City Sacred Heart, Lincoln VRLY Storm, Lincoln ABA and Omaha AEF.

Wayne opened pool play with a highly contested 28-24 loss to Omaha AEF but rebounded with a 21-14 win over Lincoln ABA.

The 1-1 pool play record advanced Wayne to the bronze medal game, where the 7th grade girls picked up a 22-12 win over Falls City Sacred Heart to take home third place honors.

The 8th Grade Boys WBDA basketball team competed in the Midwest Invitational Tournament in Lincoln on March 9th and 10th, competing in a six-team bracket along with Beatrice, Lewiston, Lincoln Capital City Kings, Walthill and Winnebago.

Wayne opened up pool play with a thrilling 58-56 win over Winnebago and then followed that up with a 51-30 win over Beatrice.

The two wins allowed Wayne to advance to the championship game, where Wayne faced Walthill and came away with a 59-57 win to take championship honors.

The 7th Grade Boys WBDA basketball team competed at the Midwest Invitational Tournament in Lincoln on March 9-10.

Wayne competed in a six-team bracket along with Bennet/Palmyra, Lincoln Advance, Lincoln Mustangs, Southern and Sutton.  In pool play, Wayne opened with a 37-19 win over Lincoln Advance, and followed that up with a 34-19 win over Southern to advance to the championship game.

In the gold medal game, Wayne defeated Bennet/Palmyra 50-47 in a highly-competitive contest to take championship honors.  Congratulations to the 7th grade boys on the win and their season!

The 5th Grade Boys WBDA basketball team competed in the Roaring Roundball Tournament in David City on Saturday, March 2nd.  Wayne started play with a 27-19 win over the host Aquinas Monarchs. Wayne then closed tournament play with a solid 32-18 win over Howells-Dodge to finish 2-0 in their division and take home championship honors.  Congratulations boys!

The 7th Grade Girls WBDA Basketball Team competed in the Roaring Roundball Tournament in David City on Saturday, March 2nd. Wayne opened the day with a 15-point win over the Aquinas Monarchs and then held on in their final game in a exciting 12-8 win over Centennial to go 2-0 on the day for championship honors.  Congratulations 7th graders!

The 8th grade girls WBDA basketball team competed in the Roaring Roundball Tournament in David City, Nebraska on Saturday, March 2nd.  Wayne played two games on the day, opening play with a 41-7 win over Columbus Scotus before falling to Wahoo Neumann 25-23 to go 1-1 on the day for runner-up honors.

The 4th Grade Boys WBDA basketball team took part in their home “Clash of the Plains” Tournament on Saturday, February 17th in Wayne.  Wayne competed in a tough eight-team bracket alongside Bancroft-Rosalie, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Lutheran High Northeast, Pender, Pierce, Ponca, and Wakefield. Wayne opened the tournament with a 25-15 win over Pender. In the semifinals, Wayne dropped a hard-fought battle to Ponca.  In the consolation game, Wayne defeated Pierce 39-20 to finish 2-1 on the day and in third place.  Congratulations on the performance and your season boys!

The 6th Grade Girls WBDA basketball team took part in the NEN Tournament in Norfolk on Saturday, February 24th.   Wayne recorded victories over Norfolk and Guardian Angels Central Catholic before falling in a close two-point contest to Hartington-Newcastle to finish 2-1 on the day and take runner-up honors.

The 8th Grade Girls WBDA basketball team competed in the Norfolk NEN Tournament on Sunday, February 25th.  Wayne competed in a four-team round-robin bracket.  Wayne opened play with a 40-13 win over Stanton, then defeated Columbus Scotus 29-25, before finishing with a 44-17 win over Crofton to take championship honors in their division.  Congratulations players and coaches!

The Wayne 5th grade boys won their home “Clash of the Plains” Tournament on Saturday, February 17.  Wayne competed in an 8-team bracket along with Blair, Ponca, Randolph, Stanton, Wakefield, Wisner and Wynot.

Wayne opened tournament play with a 40-12 win over Randolph, and then recorded a 30-15 win over Wisner in the semifinals.  In the championship game, Wayne battled a very good team from Wakefield and was able to pull away with a 41-28 victory and gold medal honors.  Congratulations on your championship 5th graders.
