The 7th grade girls WBDA basketball team competed in the WBDA Tournament on Sunday, February 20th in Wayne. The Wayne girls competed in a six-team division along with Battle Creek, Crofton, Norfolk Catholic, Pierce and Wisner.  Wayne opened pool play with a 34-10 win over Norfolk Catholic and followed that up with a 34-19 win over Wisner to win their pool and advance to the championship game. In the final, Wayne went back and forth in a tight contest, before falling to Battle Creek to take home runner-up honors.  Congratulations 7th graders!

The 4th Grade Boys WBDA basketball team took runner-up honors in their division of the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 19th.  Wayne competed with five other teams: Hartington Cedar Catholic, Norfolk Catholic, Randolph, West Point and Wynot.  Wayne opened pool play with a 45-8 win over Randolph and then defeated Cedar Catholic 32-30 in a thriller to win their pool.  In the championship game Wayne dropped a tough contest to West Point.  Congratulations boys on your runner-up finish!

The 6th Grade Girls WBDA basketball team won the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 19th.  Wayne competed in a four-team round-robin bracket along with Hartington-Newcastle, Plainview and Wisner.  Wayne opened play with a 38-0 win over Wisner and followed that up with a 27-17 win over Plainview.  Wayne then closed the tournament with a 32-10 win over Hartington-Newcastle to go 3-0 and claim championship honors.  Congratulations girls!

The 5th grade boys WBDA basketball team finished its season this weekend by winning the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 19th.  Six teams competed in the division: Elkhorn Attack, Laurel, Norfolk, Wakefield, Wausa, and Wayne.  Wayne opened play with a 31-1 win over Wakefield then followed that up with a 32-8 win over Wausa to win their pool.  Wayne then faced Elkhorn Attack in the championship game that was tight and intense throughout. In the end, Wayne came out on top 21-19 to win the tournament championship.  Congratulations on a great season 5th graders and coaches!

The 8th grade boys WBDA basketball team kicked off their season by winning their home tournament on Sunday, February 20th.  Six teams competed in the division, including Norfolk Catholic, Randolph, Wakefield, Wausa, Wayne, and Wynot. Wayne opened play with a 48-22 win over Randolph and then picked up a tough 46-41 win over Wynot to win their pool.  Wayne then took on Wakefield in the championship game and came away with a 55-43 win to capture the tournament championship.

The 4th grade girls WBDA basketball team recently completed at the Norfolk NEN Tournament.  The Wayne girls fought hard in games against Columbus and Norfolk Catholic and then picked up an exciting double-overtime win over Pierce. Way to go players and coaches!

The 5th Grade boys WBDA team took part in the Norfolk NEN Tournament this past weekend and came home with a runner-up finish.  Wayne opened the tournament with a win over Norfolk Maroon and followed that up with a win over BRLD (Bancroft).  The two wins put Wayne in the championship game where they fell just short in a matchup with Norfolk White to take home the silver medal.  Great job boys!

The 8th Grade Girls WBDA Team won their division of the Norfolk NEN Tournament on Sunday, February 13th.  Wayne picked up wins over North Central (Bassett), Hartington Cedar Catholic and Laurel to go 3-0 on the day and take home the gold medal!  Way to go 8th graders!

The 6th Grade Girls WBDA team competed in the NEN Y Tournament in Norfolk on Sunday, February 13th.  Wayne opened play with a win over Hartington Cedar Catholic and then posted a defensive gem in a win over a West Holt team that had beaten them earlier in the season. Wayne fell to Elkhorn Valley in the final game of the day, climbing out of a big hole to fall just a few points short of a victory against a great Falcons team.  The Wayne girls took silver on the day with their performance.  Great job ladies.

The 4th Grade Boys WBDA team took runner-up honors at the NEN Youth Tournament in Norfolk.  Wayne opened play with a tough loss to eventual champion West Point, but responded with big wins over Norfolk Catholic (36-15) and Battle Creek (39-20) to finish 2-1 on the day and in second place.  Congratulations players and coaches!
