The 6th grade boys WBDA basketball team kicked off their season on Sunday, January 5th at the North Bend Optimist Tournament in North Bend, Nebraska. Wayne competed in a six-team bracket along with GACC Blue, GACC White, Fremont, Columbus Scotus, and North Bend.
In pool play, Wayne opened the tournament with a 54-42 win over Guardian Angels Central Catholic Blue. The final pool play game saw Wayne defeat North Bend 37-27 to advance to the championship game.
In the final, Wayne recorded a thrilling last-second 44-42 win over Columbus Scotus to finish 3-0 on the day and pick up the tournament championship. Congratulations 6th graders!
