On Sunday, March 5th the WBDA 5th Grade Girls team competed in the David City Hoops Hops Classic Basketball Tournament in the 5th/6th grade combination division. The division consisted of Wayne (5th), Columbus Swish (5th), Seward Stars (5th), Aquinas Pride (5th/6th), Waverly Lady Vikes (5th), Seward Starz (5th), York Dukes (5th) and David City Explorers (5th/6th). Wayne defeated the Columbus Swish in the first round, lost to the Aquinas Pride in round two and went on to defeat the David City Explorers in the 3rd place game. Solid man-to-man team defense and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch were the difference in the game.
This was the final tournament of the year for the 5th grade girls. The season culminated, in what is becoming an annual event for this team, with the coaches post-season water bottle shower. See the video Here!
