8th Grade Boys Blue Team Finishes 3rd in David City

The 8th Grade boys Wayne Blue team placed 3rd in the Gold Bracket of the David City Tournament yesterday.  Wayne Blue finished 2-1.

Opened the day in pool play with a 58-44 loss to eventual champion Seward, then defeated Immanuel Lutheran (Columbus) 38-33 in overtime. Wayne then defeated Malcolm 39-20 in the third-place game to take home the bronze medals.

7th Grade Boys take 2nd In Pierce

Sunday, December 8th, the 7th grade WBDA boy’s team competed in a tournament in Pierce, NE.  Wayne was placed in a 4 team round-robin bracket.  The boys first played Columbus Lakeview followed by a game versus Creighton which both games ending with Wayne wins.  The third and final game was against GACC from West Point, NE.  The Wayne players competed hard taking GACC to overtime, but in the end Wayne lost and finished 2nd place in the tournament.  Congrats players and coaches on your 2nd Place Finish! #wayneyouthbasketball

6th Grade Girls take 1st Place in Norfolk Catholic Tournament

Saturday, January 4th ,the Wayne 6th Grade girls played in the Norfolk Catholic tournament.  They placed 1st beating Norfolk Catholic (25-12), Clarkson Leigh (39-13), and David City Aquinas (26-25). Congratulations player and coaches for a great tournament.  #wayneyouthbasketball

Daniel Judd is the 2019 Kyle Straight Memorial Award Recipient

The Kyle Straight Memorial Basketball Award is presented to an 8th Grade Wayne Boys Basketball Player who best exemplifies the love of the game and a positive attitude that Kyle displayed.

This year the WBDA Board selected Daniel Judd as the 2019 recipient.

The plaque displaying past recipients is at the Wayne Community Activity Center.

2019 WBDA Scholarship Winners announced at Honors Night

April 26, 2019 – At the Wayne High Honors Night several students were acknowledged for their hard work and dedication. The WBDA Board of Directors planned to award two $500 scholarships to recognize a female and male Wayne High student who had shown dedication in the classroom, to the community and to the sport of basketball. The Board took special consideration to those individuals who played in the Wayne Basketball Development Association (WBDA) and continued to be involved in basketball through High School.

The recipients of this year’s WBDA Scholarship Award were Annie Kniesche and Tyler Gilliland.
