The 5th Grade boys basketball team won the Battle Creek Youth Tournament on Saturday, January 6th. Wayne played in a seven-team bracket with Battle Creek, Boone Central, Clarkson/Leigh, Humphrey St. Francis, O’Neill, and Pierce.
In the opening game, Wayne defeated Boone Central 29-8, then followed that up with a 27-14 win over O’Neill and a 29-15 win over Battle Creek to advance to the championship game. In the final, Wayne defeated Humphrey St. Francis 29-10 to take home the tournament championship. Congratulations 5th graders!
