5th Grade Boys Runner-Up at WBDA Tournament

The Wayne WBDA 5th Grade Boys team competed at the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 18th and walked away with a second place finish.  Competing in a four-team round-robin bracket, Wayne opened the day with a 30-14 win over Hartington-Newcastle and followed that up with a dominant 45-15 win over Wakefield. In the final game of the day, Wayne dropped a tough contest to West Point-Beemer, 49-28, finishing 2-1 in the tournament and taking home runner-up honors.

6th Grade Girls Runner-Up at WBDA Tournament

The Wayne 6th Grade Girls WBDA basketball team competed in the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 18th.  Wayne competed in a four-team, round-robin bracket with Hartington Cedar Catholic, Elkhorn Valley and Plainview.

Wayne opened up play with a 27-11 loss to eventual champion Elkhorn Valley, but bounced back to pick up a hard-fought 21-20 win over Plainview and a 14-10 win over Cedar Catholic to finish 2-1 in the tournament, earning a runner-up finish.

4th/5th Grade Girls Win WBDA Tournament

The 4th/5th Grade Girls WBDA Team won their division at the 2023 WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 18th. The girls competed in a four-team bracket along with Hartington-Newcastle, Randolph and Elkhorn Valley.  Wayne opened the day with a 22-4 win over Randolph and followed up with a 24-9 win over Elkhorn Valley.  Wayne closed out competition with a 18-9 win over Hartington-Newcastle to finish 3-0 in the round-robin bracket to take home the gold medal.  Congratulations on the victory and a wrap to your season players and coaches!

4th Grade Boys Win WBDA Tournament

The Wayne 4th Grade Boys won the championship at the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 18th in Wayne.  Wayne competed in a six-team bracket along with Hartington Cedar Catholic, Wakefield, Plainview, Stanton and West Point-Beemer. Wayne opened pool play with a 38-13 win over Stanton and then defeated West Point 32-7 to advance to the gold medal game.  The championship contest featured a highly-competitive back-and-forth matchup with Cedar Catholic.  The lead changed hands several times throughout the contest with Wayne hitting a dramatic shot at the buzzer to secure a hard-fought 35-34 victory to take home first-place honors.  Congratulations 4th graders!

Junior High Girls win Gold at Ord Tournament

The 7th/8th grade girls WBDA team traveled west and took home the championship from the Ord Booster Club Tournament on Saturday, February 11th in Ord. In the opening game, Wayne defeated host Ord 25-17 and then picked up a 19-10 win over Ainsworth to close out pool play.  The championship game featured a physical matchup with West Holt. Wayne came back from a one-point halftime deficit to take the gold medal with a final score of 26-20. Congratulations ladies and coaches!
