The Wayne 4th Grade Boys won the championship at the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 18th in Wayne. Wayne competed in a six-team bracket along with Hartington Cedar Catholic, Wakefield, Plainview, Stanton and West Point-Beemer. Wayne opened pool play with a 38-13 win over Stanton and then defeated West Point 32-7 to advance to the gold medal game. The championship contest featured a highly-competitive back-and-forth matchup with Cedar Catholic. The lead changed hands several times throughout the contest with Wayne hitting a dramatic shot at the buzzer to secure a hard-fought 35-34 victory to take home first-place honors.
