The 8th grade girls WBDA team competed in the Hop’s Hoops Classic in David City on Sunday, March 6th and brought home first place honors with a 3-0 record on the day. Wayne picked up wins over Seward, David City Aquinas Gray and David City Aquinas White to win the bracket and gold medal honors. Congrats team!
The 6th grade girls WBDA basketball team took third place honors at the Hop’s Hoops Classic in David City on Sunday, March 6th. Wayne opened pool play with a 33-10 win over David City Aquinas, before falling in a tough match with Elkhorn Valley 24-20. In the bronze medal game, Wayne rallied to defeat Wahoo Neumann 24-22 to finish 2-1 on the day and take home third-place honors.
The 8th grade boys WBDA basketball team took 3rd place honors at the Hop’s Hoops Classic in David City on Saturday, March 5. The 8th grade boys competed in a large 10-team bracket. Wayne defeated Elkhorn Valley 36-29 to open play before falling in a tough contest to Seward. Wayne rebounded with a 36-34 win over Twin Plains to finish 2-1 on the day and in third place.
The sixth grade boys WBDA basketball team took home first place honors at the Hop’s Hoops Classic in David City on Saturday, March 5. In pool play, Wayne defeated David City Aquinas 34-15 and then took down Howells-Dodge 32-21 to advance to the championship game. In the final, Wayne defeated Shelby/Rising City to take home the gold. Congratulations 6th grade boys and coaches!
The 4th grade boys WBDA basketball team took home gold from the Hop’s Hoops Classic in David City on Saturday, March 5. Wayne competed in a four-team bracket and picked up wins over Twin River (19-12), David City Aquinas (31-9) and Milford (28-18) to finish 3-0 on the day and secure a first-place finish.
The 8th Grade Girls WBDA basketball team earned runner-up honors at the WBDA Tournament on Sunday, February 20th. Wayne competed in a very tough 6-team bracket along with Crofton, David City Aquinas, Laurel, Pender and Raymond Central. Wayne opened up pool play with a 27-17 win over Pender and followed that up with a 39-27 win over Raymond Central to win their pool and advance to the championship game. In the final, Wayne fell in a tough contest to Laurel to end the day with a runner-up finish. Congratulations 8th grade girls and coaches!
The 7th grade girls WBDA basketball team competed in the WBDA Tournament on Sunday, February 20th in Wayne. The Wayne girls competed in a six-team division along with Battle Creek, Crofton, Norfolk Catholic, Pierce and Wisner. Wayne opened pool play with a 34-10 win over Norfolk Catholic and followed that up with a 34-19 win over Wisner to win their pool and advance to the championship game. In the final, Wayne went back and forth in a tight contest, before falling to Battle Creek to take home runner-up honors. Congratulations 7th graders!
The 4th Grade Boys WBDA basketball team took runner-up honors in their division of the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 19th. Wayne competed with five other teams: Hartington Cedar Catholic, Norfolk Catholic, Randolph, West Point and Wynot. Wayne opened pool play with a 45-8 win over Randolph and then defeated Cedar Catholic 32-30 in a thriller to win their pool. In the championship game Wayne dropped a tough contest to West Point. Congratulations boys on your runner-up finish!
The 6th Grade Girls WBDA basketball team won the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 19th. Wayne competed in a four-team round-robin bracket along with Hartington-Newcastle, Plainview and Wisner. Wayne opened play with a 38-0 win over Wisner and followed that up with a 27-17 win over Plainview. Wayne then closed the tournament with a 32-10 win over Hartington-Newcastle to go 3-0 and claim championship honors. Congratulations girls!
The 5th grade boys WBDA basketball team finished its season this weekend by winning the WBDA Tournament on Saturday, February 19th. Six teams competed in the division: Elkhorn Attack, Laurel, Norfolk, Wakefield, Wausa, and Wayne. Wayne opened play with a 31-1 win over Wakefield then followed that up with a 32-8 win over Wausa to win their pool. Wayne then faced Elkhorn Attack in the championship game that was tight and intense throughout. In the end, Wayne came out on top 21-19 to win the tournament championship. Congratulations on a great season 5th graders and coaches!
